Engine Management Sensors
Engine speed sensors are used in engine management systems to measure engine speed and determine the position of the crankshaft. GST manufactures both crankshaft and camshaft sensors.
A crankshaft sensor measures the current position of the crankshaft.
Based on these measurements, the engine management system calculates the rotational speed. With these values, the most economically optimal fuel injection and ignition timing can be calculated for an automobile.
Camshaft sensors, alongside crankshaft sensors, are amongst the sensors particularly important for engine management.
The camshaft sensor is positioned inside of the cylinder head and measures the current position of the camshaft. By means of the measurements, the engine management system calculates the optimal moment for the injection start in a sequential fuel injection system. The measurements are required beyond that for further control signals, like those for knock control.
